Self-Care in Your Job Search
The second week of February, my family went to Mexico on a holiday.
As is my usual self, I was considering bringing my laptop to keep up with work while I was away.
My partner said “Absolutely Not!” and would not let me bring my computer because he knew I would get sucked into work.
When I got back, I was so happy I didn’t take my computer because I felt refreshed and ready to get back to work!
Taking care of your mental and physical health will help prevent burnout, whether you are employed or a job seeker.
One of my clients was busy doing all the things to help them get a job.
She was networking, volunteering, applying online, and taking courses.
She shared that she will slow down once she has her dream job.
But what if she gets her dream job but is so burnt out she can’t perform at the level she wants?
Taking care of yourself is not only a good idea, it’s necessary.
If you aren’t 100% when you start a new job, you might struggle to learn the job or have performance issues.
Make sure you are taking care of yourself along the way, allow time to feel disappointed about that job rejection, and wish things went faster.
You will thank yourself later.
